Design Proposals for
home entertainment 2005
My role: Interaction + Product Designer
Client: Philips
Eindhoven, Holland, 2005
The design proposes a range of Home Entertainment (HE) concepts for Philips future line of products and home experiences. Those concepts are based on a brief set by Philips called MODEA: Life Style, Art of Living, and Freedom of Placement.
The design proposals were underpinned by the idea that the electronic devices used at home could go beyond the mere function of HE. The proposals intended to improve the experience of HE by looking into
unconventional aspects of people’s life, taking into consideration how the users move at home, what activities they do, and how they use technologies such as the internet, social media, games and other types of interactive elements.
The concept presented to Philips use technology as a helper in the home context complementing the vision of home entertainment.
Some of the key characteristics that drove the proposed concepts are Objects that can be PERSONALISED that have a MODULAR structure, and that can BLEND IN in their context of use.
